Vaile 3.JPG

The Victorian Society was the recipient of two grants for the restoration project in 2023.

The first from the Sunderland Family in the amount of $30,000 and the second a matching $10,000 grant from the National Daughters of the American Revolution.

We were also fortunate to receive the needed $10,000 match for the DAR grant from Paul and Sandy Moentmann.

Restoration Campaign

The 143-year-old Mansion is experiencing some significant exterior issues. We are in the process of coordinating efforts to raise the approximately $2 million needed for the most serious of the repairs.  If you would like to help, please contact us at

The Vaile Mansion was completed in 1881 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969. It is a 3-story brick Second Empire with a 4th story tower and
boasts ornate wood trim and metal finials on the slate roof and gabled dormer windows that surround the building. The building was constructed using hand-pressed brick
and limestone trim.

A comprehensive assessment was completed in 2018 and several areas of concern were identified. The cost of the repairs is significant and will require a major
outlay of
funds for the next several years.

The all-volunteer Victorian Society of the Vaile Mansion has spent over $1,500,000 restoring the Mansion and grounds and filling it with period pieces to emulate the furnishings of the Vaile’s when they occupied the home. Now we need to address several critical issues of the exterior of the Mansion.
Estimated critical repairs will cost nearly $1.5 million in total. Our annual fundraising efforts alone cannot meet these needs in the timeframe required to prevent major deterioration.

Contact us at for additional information about how you can help us preserve this one-of-a kind treasure.
